Media Policy

Newark and Sherwood Solar Action Group – Social Media Policy & Media Policy

Applicable to: All Members of Newark and Sherwood Solar Action Group

The Media Policy is intended to provide all members of Newark and Sherwood Solar Action Group (NASSAG) with specific guidance on appropriate conduct when using different media channels. The use of media is a valuable tool in communicating effectively both personally and professionally. However, when it is used inappropriately, reputational damage can be caused.

NASSAG encourages the appropriate use of all media for promoting the aims and arguments of the group, and other Action Groups where appropriate. This policy is underpinned by our values and should be read in conjunction with our Constitution. Please take the time to read these documents.

Media platforms include all social media, but are not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Nextdoor, TikTok, Pinterest, Slideshare, Flickr, Instagram, Snapchat, and any blog; TV and radio; press; newsletters; magazines, etc. NASSAG actively monitors all media platforms to protect the Group’s identity and reputation.

If you are contacted for comments about NASSAG for publication anywhere, including in any social media outlet, direct the enquiry to the NASSAG committee and do not respond without approval.

This policy covers two areas of use of media:

  1. Action Group use of official NASSAG media.
    • No content or accounts should be placed online or offline in the name of NASSAG without prior agreement from the NASSAG committee.
    • Committee members have a specific responsibility for operating within the boundaries of this policy, ensuring that all members understand the standards of behaviour expected of them.
  2.  Personal use of media when referencing NASSAG or the activities associated with the Group.
    • You are entitled to express your views with respect to the solar developments in Newark and Sherwood District in media, so long as they are clearly your personal views and not acting as a spokesperson for NASSAG.
    • You are personally responsible for the content you publish. Please do not engage in activities or comments which might damage NASSAG or bring it into disrepute, even indirectly. Remember many things said in the media cannot always be amended or retracted.
    • If you are uncertain or concerned about the appropriateness of any content, refrain from releasing it until you have discussed it with the NASSAG committee.
    • Do not disclose any information about the Group’s activities, strategy, or contacts which is known or perceived to be confidential. If in doubt always ask.
    • Do not use NASSAG logos or post photos/images or documents relating to NASSAG operations without the prior consent of the committee.

Failure to abide by this policy may result in a review being conducted, in accordance with NASSAG’s Constitution. You may be required to remove any social media content that we consider constitutes a breach of this policy and may no longer be a member of the Action Group.

Any questions regarding the content or application of this policy should be directed to the Chair or Secretary of the Action Group via email at [email protected]

This policy may be subject to change at any time.

We welcome your donations.

To stand the best chance of defeating Mallard Pass, we will require the expertise of specialists to identify and submit the relevant legal and material planning considerations during the Examination phase with the Planning Inspectorate.

We therefore intend to use the services of a Planning Consultant and a Junior Barrister to ensure we can represent the community effectively.

We need to raise at least £15,000 in advance.

Please donate generously either via:

GoFundMe page https://gofund.me/364ca897
BACs to Mallard Pass Action Group, Account no. 63032162, Sort Code 30-98-97

We want to assure you the funds will be used very wisely. Should there be any remaining at the end of the planning process we will contact all MPAG members by whatever means available to us, and offer some options for redistribution into community projects or specific charities.

Thank You
